Description
Burma Kingdom of Pyu silver coin 190-400ADBurmese silver coin attributed to the Kingdom of Srivatsa of the Pyus and dated 600-700 AD. Like #3.3 page 10 in Robinson and Shaw, The Coins and Banknotes of Burma but one side design is a little different. Weigh only .14 gram and is 8mm. R & S only list seven weights and size so must have not had many of them. This one clearly shows the sun and moon above the temple as their specimen does. Reverse appears to be several Xs which some have suggested is an Indian stool for offering, the Buddhist symbols for fire, water and air, or a hand drum. Which show how little is known about Myanmar coinage. From an old Myanmar collection.
