    Description

On auction we have an original photograph of The Grateful Dead at the corner of Haight and Ashbury Streets in San Francisco. This is signed at the bottom in ink by the photographer, "H Greene" and titled "The Grateful Dead 1966". I'm told this is a silver gelatin photo, but, not an expert I cannot verify that. This is in a black matte on foam board measuring 28" X 27" with the photo approximately 24 1/4" X 23 1/2".
    About the photographer:
Herb “Herbie” Greene (born April 3, 1942) is an American photographer best known for his portraits of musicians.
By the 1990s, Greene's portfolio had cemented his reputation as the unofficial photographer of the Grateful Dead. His portraits of the band and their 1960s contemporaries appeared in several magazines, including Rolling Stone, Relix, Newsweek and others. He also published several books of his work, including The Book of the Dead: Celebrating 25 Years with the Grateful Dead (1990), Sunshine Daydreams (1991) and Dead Days: A Grateful Dead Illustrated History (1996). After Garcia's death in August 1995, Greene went on to photograph the Grateful Dead's surviving members and their bands.
Many of his images are on display at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
This is in excellent condition. The photograph is clean, clear, bright and bold. It is attached to the matte that has kept this pristine with no wrinkles or damages.  Please view my photographs for more description.
This is from my friend, a music memorabilia collector who has decided to part with some of his treasures. You may be interested in his Grateful Dead poster I have on a separate listing at this time.
I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping. This will be shipped flat.
